The purpose the of the Parent and Child Nature Play Group is to introduce parents
with young children to the philosophy of Forest School while providing them with a
safe and supportive environment for outdoor play. Each session will feature a Forest School topic along with an invitation to take part in a Forest School activity.
This group is geared towards parents with children ages 2-5 but other ages are
welcome if siblings are also attending. The group will run for 1.5 hours from 10:00-
11:30am on Tuesdays and will be held at the Nature Playground in the forest trails behind The Village.
What to Expect:
1. Opening Circle and Songs: We'll start with a welcoming circle where children and parents can get to know each other. We'll sing nature-inspired songs to set the mood for our outdoor play.
2. Snack and Story Time: Enjoy a snack and listen to a story.
3. Forest School Inspired Activities: Each session will feature hands-on activities inspired by Forest School principles, designed to encourage exploration, sensory experiences, and creativity.
4. Outdoor Mud Kitchen and Nature Playground: Children will have the opportunity for unstructured play in our outdoor mud kitchen and nature playground. These areas are designed to promote imaginative play and interaction with natural materials.
5. Closing Circle: We'll gather to say goodbye and sing a thankfulness song until our next adventure.
What to Bring:
Please dress your child in weather-appropriate clothing that can get messy and sturdy close-toed shoes.
Bring a water bottle and any personal items your child may need. You may also bring a blanket or something to sit on for snack and story.
