Join Geri Schreyer of @seed.grow.love for a hands-on workshop, where you’ll learn to make fresh Bannock and homemade fruit freezer jam. Bannock is a traditional unleavened bread enjoyed by Métis people and Indigenous communities across the Prairies.
Geri, a presenter of Métis descent, will guide you through preparing a small, oven-baked Bannock using the same method her grandparents used during her childhood—sharing skills and stories along the way.
Participants will also create their own freezer jam using fruits that are locally available in Manitoba. You’ll explore how freezer jam differs from traditional cooked jams and gain skills to help you make the most of the fruit harvest season.
At the end of the workshop, you’ll enjoy the perfect pairing of fresh Bannock and your homemade jam to take home!
Light snacks and refreshments will be provided.
We are excited to announce that we are a licensed venue! Feel free to head over to The Village Square and purchase an alcoholic or non-alcoholic beverage from The Square Bar to bring into the studio!
